If you are a first time visitor, WELCOME!
We hope that we've answered your questions. If you didn't find the answer you were looking for, please don't hesitate to email Pastor Steve.
Also, make sure to pick up a Welcome Packet from one of our ushers before
or after the service.
What should I expect?
When you arrive, expect to be greeted warmly by one of our ushers, who will offer you a welcome packet and our weekly bulletin. At 10:00am, the Worship Team will start playing music which you can sing along to if you'd like. Afterwards, Pastor Steve will pray and begin his sermon. At the end of the Worship Service, you are invited to join us for complimentary bagels and coffee downstairs in our "coffeehouse".
What do I wear?
We dress casual. You can wear whatever is comfortable but appropriate.
What is the Worship Service like?
Our worship service is contemporary in style. Occasionally, we have a worship dance group that will express worship in movement. We also have a choir that performs a special song or cantata on various occasions. Sometimes there will be a video clip that is relevant to the message. The sermon is taken directly from the Bible and every effort is made to communicate God's message in a way that is relevant to today. Our goal is to reveal God's love to all people and show how He can be alive to you personally. We make every effort to connect people with God and other followers of Jesus. You will have an opportunity to make some great connections here. We hope that as you visit with us that you will
gain a deeper understanding of how great and wonderful God really is.
How long is the Worship Service?
Usually about 45 minutes, give or take. After the Service, you're invited to join us for complimentary coffee and bagels downstairs in the coffeeshop.
Who is the Pastor?
We have two Pastors. The Lead Pastor is Pastor Stephan Hurkens (Pastor Steve) who is a kind-hearted, warm, sincere and God-led Pastor. His messages are inspiring and relevant for today and each message is backed by Scripture. Our Associate Pastor is Pastor Sharon Hurkens, Pastor Steve's wife, who shares the same attributes as her husband. Her ministry focuses on women 'shedding away the old and becoming new again with Christ'. Occasionally, you may have the pleasure of hearing Pastor Sharon conduct a sermon. What kind of music do you play?
Contemporary music is our preference sometimes blended with traditional hymns. We have a live worship team that will keep you on your feet! Click here to learn more about our Worship music.
Do I have to sing?
We do encourage everyone to participate, but if you choose not to, that's okay - no one is looking at you, so just relax and enjoy the music. Sometimes just being silent is the best way to experience God's presence.
Do you offer childcare during the service?
At 10AM, we will care for your baby up to 2 1/2 years old. The nursery is full of age-appropriate toys and our caregivers will lovingly care for your child so you can enjoy the sermon without any distraction. If you'd like your baby to be fed or their diaper changed, please let the caregivers know. Click here for more info about our nursery.
How about Sunday school?
We are proud to offer a wide variety of children's programs. For your 3-6 year old (Lambs), we offer a class that includes a Bible lesson, craft, and a snack. For your 2nd-4th grader (Disciples), the class is a bit more structured and also includes a light snack. For your teen, 5th grade & up (Juniors), we delve a little deeper into the Bible. All Sunday school classes begin at 10:30AM right after Kids Worship which begins at 10AM in Little Pebbles. Just drop off your child for their Kids Worship and they will be escorted safely to their classes by their Sunday school teacher. Click here for more info on our Sunday School program.
How do I get to E. Rockaway Nazarene?
