Rest in God
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls".
Jesus does free us from all our burdens. He does this when we put our complete trust in Him. This doesn't mean that we will not have trouble, because we will. Jesus told us we would have tribulations in this life, but He also promises to give us His rest. Let us cleave to our Lord and let His peace flood our souls.
Rest is a needed thing in our lives. The Lord said in Exodus, that the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord. He further said to do no work. In other words, meditate on the Lord on the Sabbath, but it is also a day of rest.
God made the heavens and the earth in six (6) days but on the seventh (7) He rested.
It seems that in our world today, at least where we are living, that rest is a desired thing. And while rest and taking it easy is good for us physically, more importantly, is rest for our souls.
Psalm 37 says, "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass."
What a great piece of wisdom from our God. The Lord is telling us to Rest in Him and to wait patiently for Him.
Too many of us say we are resting in Jesus, but are we? Are we patiently waiting for the Lord's rest and direction?
Let us not worry about the wicked and the things that they are doing. Let us concentrate on listening for Him.
We seem to be living at a time in our world, where we are stuck to our Ipads, phones, e-mails and the list goes on. Nothing wrong with any of these products, but first put our trust in Christ. Jesus is in control, He doesn't need to take a day off, He walks with us and He talks with us, if we are taking our proper rest in Him.
Why not start a new habit in each of our lives by making time each day to just sit and meditate on the Lord and His Word. Sit for 15 minutes and just praise and worship Jesus for Him and for our lives. We make time to do many things in life. Why not take some time just to sit at the Master's feet. Amen.
