You're an Overcomer
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
We live in a world filled with suffering and pain. Every day that goes by we are witnessing horrible things in our society. When we think we’ve seen the worst, something else happens that tops it. There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. How can we overcome the things that are going on in the world? It is only through Jesus Christ!
In the Scripture above, Jesus tells us that we would have tribulation in this world, but to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. How does His victory over the world help us? It is through His triumph that we become victorious. If you want to overcome the world, then the best way to do it is to follow the One that has already overcome it. When you place your faith in Jesus that’s when you’re going to start winning in the game of life.
1 John 5:4- For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world---our faith.
As soon as you start following the ways of Jesus, your life will change for the better. Satan will actually come after you harder. However, it’s during those difficult times we have to stand on God’s Word in faith and when we do, that’s when we’ll see the power of God being displayed in and through our lives. Christ will make a way where there is no way because He is The Way. When the Holy Spirit starts to lead and guide your life in the teachings of Jesus, that’s when you will be able to start overcoming any obstacle that comes your way.
Romans 8:37- Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
The phrase “more than conquerors” comes from a Greek word called hupernikao. The first part of the word huper means “over and above.” The second part of the word niako means conqueror. The word describes a person that is super victorious. It is not by our own strength, but it is only through Christ that we are more than conquerors. It’s through His victory that you’re an overcomer.
