There is Power in Prayer

"If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." John 15:7

As God's born-again children, we have become the recipient of His many Blessings and gifts to us. One of the most important is the power of Prayer.

When we come to Jesus Christ, we are saved by a connection with the God of the entire universe. With prayer, we have the privilege and the responsibility to talk with our God and also knowing that God hears us and will answer us in His time. I think the key to prayer is abiding (remaining) in Jesus. When we are abiding in Christ, we will receive His Joy in our lives, and His Blessings will flow into our souls.

By abiding in the Lord, we will know the truth, His truth. People can only do this as we are diligent in abiding, praying and reading His Word. There are no short cuts in Christianity. We are not to test the Lord and we are not to use Jesus as a good luck charm! He will provide all that we need as we continue to walk and talk with Him every day. God's truth will set us free. Not our jobs, money or family - true peace and joy come from an abiding love with our Lord and Savior Jesus. Also, as we continue to abide in Christ the results will be greater confidence and greater stability in this world.

Remember the opening Scripture, "If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." There is no way we can pray correctly and effectively unless we know and believe the teachings of Jesus. When you read John 15:1-11 you will see that our Lord is also giving us a warning, that if we are severed from Him, we can do nothing.

Prayer enables us to do what man cannot do. Prayer and abiding Faith will strengthen us to live in this world. Prayer will put joy into our hearts - knowing that God is all powerful and He holds us in the palm of His hand.

Pray and pray often. My thought is this when it comes to prayer; First, you do not have to go to Bible College in order to meet with the Lord in prayer. Second, you do not have to pray for 3 hours at a time (of course if you can do that, by all means do it). Third, just talk to God in your own language. Come to Him just as you are, spend time with the Lord in prayer until you feel good in your heart that you gave Him your best time.

Prayer will beat back our enemy and it will also surround us with the power, wisdom and grace of Jesus. Pray and pray often. Amen.
