"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." James 1:5
Everyone needs God's Wisdom. In this world and during our lifetime, we will make many decisions. When we use God's Wisdom in our decision-making process, we will make the best decision that is possible.
Too many people rely on book knowledge without asking the Lord for His answers to a problem. Book knowledge is good but without God's Wisdom, we will not get the best answer we need.
The wisest man in the Bible was King Solomon. Solomon was the third King in Israel's history. God said to Solomon, "Ask for whatever you want Me to give you." Can you imagine if God said that to you! What do you want? I will give it to you. If we asked that question of many people, I wonder how many different responses we would get.
But King Solomon asked God for His Wisdom. 1 Kings 3:9 says, "So give your servant a discerning heart to govern Your people and to distinguish between right and wrong." The King asked God for His Wisdom so he could rightly know what is right from wrong. That was a wise choice Solomon made. After all, Solomon could have asked for honor, riches, big palaces, etc.
He needed wisdom and he needed God's Wisdom. God gave Solomon a wise heart and mind. King Solomon was the wisest person in the Bible. We also need Divine Wisdom today to make wise decisions when it comes to our involvement in this world. There are too many voices telling us what to buy, what to think, what to drive, etc. First and foremost, we need Jesus' Wisdom to flow into our heart and then up to our brain.
We need a good portion of His Wisdom to be effective Husbands, Wives, Fathers and Mothers and smart employees. We need to please the Lord Jesus.
God said to King Solomon later in chapter 3:13, "Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for - both riches and honor - so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among Kings."
The promise is for us today - if you need wisdom, God's Wisdom, He is ready to supply all His Wisdom that you may need. Only ask Jesus for it. God has promised us that if we ask with Godly intentions, He will give it to us. Amen.
