Don't Be Deceived
And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14
In 1957, there was a television show called “Leave it to Beaver.” It was about a family named the Cleavers. Ward and June were the parents and they had two sons; Theodore (Beaver) and Wally. The oldest son Wally had a best friend named Eddie Haskell. Eddie was a troublemaker; however, when he was around Ward and June, he was a perfect angel. He would walk in the room and say, “Mr. and Mrs. Cleaver it is wonderful to see you. I hope I’m not bothering you, but I’m here to study with Wally.” When he walked into Wally’s room he would say, “Wally, I’ve come to get you out of this jailhouse. There’s a party at Suzie’s house.”
There are times in life when we’ve become like the Cleaver parents and Satan is Eddie Haskell. We fall for his charm and his deceitfulness. Scripture tells us that Satan transforms himself into an angel of light and the reason he does it is so that he can deceive us. He is very crafty with his words and is very successful in lying to people. So, how do we beat him at his own game? The first thing we must do is put on the armor of God.
Ephesians 6:11- Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
God’s armor will protect us from the works of the devil. If we want to overcome the deceitfulness of Satan, then there’s one specific piece of armor that we must use to beat him. What is it? It’s the sword of the Spirit which is God’s Word. The Word of God will defeat any lie Satan throws your way because God’s Word is the truth.
Ephesians 6:17- And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Psalm 119:160- The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.
It’s important that you know God’s Word so that you’re prepared for when the enemy
attacks. Allowing God’s Word to penetrate your spirit will help you to walk in God’s truth and overcome any lie that Satan tells you. Put the Word of God in your heart today and don’t be deceived.
