God in Charge

And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn. 1 Kings 2:3

One of my favorite television shows as a kid was “Charles in Charge.” It was about a college student named Charles that had a side job as a nanny of three children. Whenever the kids had a problem, Charles was always there to tell them what to do so that they could overcome it. The theme song really sums up the premise of the show. Here are a few lyrics; “Charles in charge of our days and our nights.” This stanza is referring to Charles being in charge 24/7 over these kids’ lives.

God desires to be in charge of our lives 24/7. He wants us to trust in Him so that He can direct our paths. The Lord knows that when we don’t follow His ways that’s when we get ourselves in trouble. Just like in Charles in Charge the kids always made the wrong choice, but Charles directed their path through good advice. Well, God wants to direct our path through His Word. The only way for that to happen is if we trust in Him and do it His way instead of our own way.

Proverbs 3:5-6- 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.

Charles made it very clear that he desired the kids to be successful in life. He wanted the very best for them. God desires for us to be successful too. He wants us to prosper in everything that we do. However, for that to be accomplished, we must follow His way of doing things. When we are obedient to His Word, that’s when He is going to bless us and make us prosperous.

Joshua 1:8- This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Always put God in charge.
