We Are Overcomers in Jesus
Psalm 57:1 "Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in You my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed."
There has never been a human being, including Jesus, that has not had to face temptations, trials, disappointments; but it is how we handle those times that will define our Christianity.
David wrote this Psalm while being pursued by King Saul. Most Bible scholars believe he was hiding in a cave. David was certainly in hiding, he was in grave danger. What does he do? He cries out to the Lord for God's help.
This is what every child of God needs to do when facing the different day to day living in this world. Let our prayers go up to heaven and Our Lord will hear and will send help.
Psalm 57:3 "He (God) sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me; God sends His love and His faithfulness."
Our God will send us His peace. Like David, we also are surrounded by those who want to hurt us with their words or actions. Let us take our stand upon Jesus. He will fight for us because we are His own and His righteousness will come forth.
Never become bitter, become better. That is only accomplished when we take everything to Jesus. Hold on to the Lord, He will get us through. Just as a hen covers her chicks under her wings from predators - so can we run into Jesus for He is a strong tower and He will protect us.
Later on in Psalm 57, we read how David's heart was confident in his God, which caused him to sing praises to the Lord. We can do nothing less when we know that our Lord holds this whole universe in the palm of His hands. Nothing happens without the knowledge of God.
Jesus cares for us and He watches over us. As David was firm in his faith in God, we also can be firm in our faith in the Lord our God. Stand on His Word. Never doubt the Lord.
Never mind what others say about Jesus, you gently love them and tell them what Jesus has done in your life. So when times of distress come like a flood to the door of your soul, turn to Jesus, take the time to talk to Him, and then sit quietly and listen for His voice. Amen
