Be Still, For I Am Your God
Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
December 25th is the month and day that we celebrate the birth of our Lord and our Savior Jesus. It is a time when Christians, and I believe, the world seems to be happier, seems to have a glow about them because for most folks it will be a time spent with family, friends and getting together.
But we also find that this is a season of unrest. We are running to stores to buy gifts and spending money that we may not have or going food shopping to prepare dinner for our family and/or friends. Now there is nothing wrong with these things unless we do not spend time with the Lord. When was the last time you were still, when you were at peace with the Lord?
I am not a killjoy as I love this time of the year also. However, lets never lose sight of why we are so joyous. May we take the time and put down the shopping list, shut off the T.V. and spend some time in being still and sitting at our Savior's feet.
When we begin to come into a quiet time of worship with the Lord and are not distracted by all the outside noise, then our God will certainly be exalted in our hearts.
This Christmas let us remember to take some time alone with the Lord. Talk to Him and read His Word and just sit for a time before you go out and do battle with the gifts and the food shopping.
Relax and be still and know that He is God. He loves us and we thank Him for His gift to us. We know that His Mercies and His Grace are new each day.
Have a wonderful Christmas with your family, friends and Church family. Be Blessed and be still and know that our Lord Jesus came to this earth to redeem us and care for us. Amen.
