One Body in Christ

Romans 12: 4-5 "For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another."

Every Christian is a member of the body of Jesus Christ and we are also members of each other. Each person in Christ has a task which God Himself has given to us.

Our Lord gives each member gifts and talents and with these He will equip us to a specific role. That is a wonderful thing to know that Jesus not only has given us talents and gifts, but that He will also equip us to use those gifts to serve His Church, fellow Christians, and even the unbelieving world.

As a result of the Lord providing Christians with such talents and gifts, we need to be aware that these things do not come from within us but are given to us by God Himself. That should require each Christian to be humble and not fall into the sin of pride. Each of us function to serve Jesus and His body.

The Apostle Paul is using the concept of a human body to teach each Christian how to live in this world and how to work together to ensure that the body of Christ is being built up in Him.

Just as in the natural, there are many members of the human body, yet each one works together to function as the Lord wants.

In the Spiritual, we are to be functioning under Jesus and let Him direct us to work together and to exhibit to the world what we can do when we allow the Lord Jesus to reign in and through us. Amen
