And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egyptians. Exodus 12:36
There are times in life when we face circumstances that overwhelm us. The problems that arise in our lives sometimes can be due to non-believers treating us badly. In the Book of Exodus, the Israelites were treated so badly by the Egyptians. However, despite this major hurdle, God intervened for His people. What did He do? The Lord gave the Israelites favor in the sight of the Egyptians. This is when God delivered them from the land of Egypt through the parting of the Red Sea.
Maybe some of you today need God’s favor in your own life. The Lord would love to give you His favor. However, there’s something that you must do to receive His favor. What’s your job? The answer is found in the Scripture below.
Proverbs 3:3-4- 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart 4 and so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man.
If you want to receive God’s favor, then you must walk in mercy and truth. What does this mean? Well, to get a better understanding of this concept, we must look at the meanings of the words mercy and truth. The Hebrew word for “mercy” is chesed, which means kindness. The Hebrew word for “truth” is emet, which means trustworthiness. So, God is calling us to be kind and trustworthy. When we do this, that’s when we will find favor with God and man (people).
What does God’s favor do for us? It protects us from anything the enemy will throw our way.
Psalm 5:12- For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous with favor. You will surround him as with a shield.
Even though Satan at times may use people to get under our skin or try to hurt us, it’s important to know that God’s favor will protect us from these attacks. God is with us during these difficult times in life and He will not let anything bad happen to us. Remember, that you will always win with God’s favor.
