Share Your Testimony

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:11

Recently, I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos on people sharing their testimonies. It’s been awesome to see ex-atheists, ex-Jehovah Witnesses, and ex-Muslims putting their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and getting saved. Their testimonies are a testament to the power of God. The Lord has transformed them and brought these people out of darkness.

In Revelation 12:11, it tells us that we overcome him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus) and by the word of their (our) testimony. It is vitally important to know that the blood of Jesus gives us the victory over Satan. However, I would like to focus on the second part of this verse which is the word of their (our) testimony. This Scripture also helps us to understand that our testimony overcomes Satan.

The word testimony in the Greek is marturia, which means witness. When a person shares their testimony they are witnessing to people about what God has done in their lives. This is a great way to bring people to Christ. Throughout the Bible, we find many testimonies such as; David defeating Goliath (1 Samuel 17:48-51), God delivering Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego from the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:24-27), and Saul’s (the Apostle Paul’s) conversion (Acts 9).

In John chapter 9, the disciples and Jesus come across a man that was blind from birth. After Jesus heals the man, there were some people that believed he was healed while others did not believe. However, the man makes it clear to them that he was healed.

John 9:9- 9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, “He is like him.” He said, “I am he.”

The people asked him about the healing that he had received. The man responds by sharing his testimony.

John 9:10-11- 10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?” 11 He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”

What a powerful testimony! God gets all the glory when you share your testimony.
