Waiting on the Lord

Isaiah 40:31 "Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary."

I think one of the most difficult things to do as a Christian is to Wait. I know for myself, waiting is not what I want to be doing.

In our society today, we have and want instant relief. In other words, we want it now, with no waiting. We have instant coffee, instant oatmeal, and we have self-service check out at the stores so that we don't even have to wait on line.

But our God at times requires us to wait on Him, to trust Him, so that He will provide what we need, when we need it.

If we are honest, when we are put into the waiting box, it is not a pleasant place to be in. But the process is needed at times to teach us to rely upon Jesus and to put all matters into His capable hands.

From our opening Scripture, we see a promise given to us by God that if we wait upon Him, He will renew our strength. We will be able to soar like the eagles, spiritually, and when we run or walk, we will not get tired.

Of course, the Lord is talking about our Spiritual condition. Worry and stress can get us to the edge of never leaving the home. But when we rest in our Lord Jesus, knowing that He is the source of our strength, we never become weary in the Spirit.

So when you encounter the difficult times of life and you feel that you cannot take another step, always remember that we as Children of God who believe in Jesus in our hearts, can call upon Him any time and know that He has His best for us.

The key to this process, which is easier said than done, is to wait upon the Lord, trust in Him and wait patiently for our God to lift us up in the Spirit and renew our strength, hope and love in Jesus. Amen.
