God Loves You
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
I love Christmas! It is without a doubt my favorite holiday. Giving presents to my loved ones and having them enjoy it is priceless to me. Receiving gifts isn’t bad either. However, my favorite part about Christmas is knowing that God loved us so much that He gave us His only begotten Son so that we could have eternal life.
John 3:16- For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Did God have to give us His Son? No. However, He did because of His love for us. Despite our sins, God sent Jesus to this earth to die for us so that we would be saved from hell. In the introductory Scripture (Romans 5:8), we find that God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. So, even though we sinned against God, He still loved us enough to sacrifice His Son on the cross for our redemption. This shows us that nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39- 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Now you might be saying to yourself, “Pastor James, this is a great message. However, how can I apply this to my life?” Good question! God’s love was shown to us through the life of Jesus. When Christ walked on the earth, He poured out the Father’s love toward us. The way you walk in this truth is by loving others just like Christ loves you.
Ephesians 5:2- And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Jesus showed us His love by sacrificing His life. Let us sacrifice our lives by putting others first before ourselves. In performing this selfless act, that’s when we can show God’s love to a dying world. Always remember that God loves you!
