A New Heart and A New Spirit

"And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes and be careful to obey my rules." Ezekiel 36: 26-27

Ezekiel the prophet said that God was ready to answer Israel's prayers. And for us today, we also can expect the Lord our God to answer our prayers in His time and in His way.

But the key to answered prayer rests on us to have received a new heart and a new spirit. The Bible tells us that when we surrender our lives to Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, then we will receive a new heart and a new spirit.

When this happens, changes will happen in us and through us for God's purposes. We can only accomplish what God wants from us when we receive that new heart and new spirit. This new life and this new identity in Christ is what will allow Jesus' transforming power to flow out of us.

Think back to the time when you walked according to this world. Now think about the time you received Jesus into your heart. Wasn't that the best move you ever did? For me it was and I am not saying I have arrived, but I know Jesus and I know the Holy Spirit lives in me and is guiding me when I move out of the way and let Him.

2nd Corinthians 4:6 "For God, who said, Light shall shine out of darkness, is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ."

One of our tasks as born again Christians is to let Jesus shine through us. That means let the unbelievers see Jesus in us without us speaking a word. We are to be diligent in our manner of work and in our lives outside of the Church.

Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."

Give Jesus to this lost world and give them the opportunity to have a new heart and a new spirit. Just as someone witnessed to you and others prayed for you, go do likewise. Amen.
