Encouragement from the Bible
Romans 15:4 "For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."
The Apostle Paul wrote this to all those who are born-again followers of Jesus Christ that we may know and understand that we draw encouragement from the Scriptures.
The words of the Bible were written for our encouragement and for our instruction when life gets difficult for us. We have a hope that we can hold onto and His name is Jesus. We have His written word to hold onto and it’s the Bible.
The devil will always attack us by trying to tell us that in our deepest struggle, God is far from us. He is a liar and never believe anything he says.
In John's Gospel, Jesus says this about the devil in John 8:44 "He (Satan) was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies."
All through Scripture, God has shown His faithful people that we can rely and draw from them the hope of Glory, which is Jesus Christ.
Christians, we can have the faith of Abraham and move forward in the Lord. We can believe that our God has a plan for us and just like with Joseph who was drawn out of a pit, we can rely upon the great and magnificent promises of God for us today.
God directed Moses to get through a difficult trial, and we can know that our God will also bring us through any difficult situations in our life.
As one Bible writer said, "We have the strength to overcome adversaries like Joshua (Joshua 6), forgiveness like David (Psalm 51) and provision like the disciples in (John 6: 1-14)."
We also have a great cloud of witnesses. Hebrews 12:1 "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” This cloud of witnesses are the heroes of faith who went before us - let us hold on to Jesus, fixing our eyes on Him, the author and perfecter of our faith.
Hold on Christian and get encouragement from the Scriptures. Amen.
