Be Faithful to God

If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. 2 Timothy 2:13

Has someone ever been unfaithful to you? Did they betray you in some way? How did that make you feel? There are times in life when people will turn their backs on us. Their betrayal may even leave us brokenhearted. Did you know that God feels the same way every time we sin? It’s true! We break God’s heart whenever we sin and turn our back on Him. As children of God, our goal is to please the Lord not to hurt Him. So, this brings me to the question of the day. How do we stay faithful to God? There’s two ways to stay faithful to God.

1. Having no other gods. Exodus 20:3- You shall have no other gods before Me.

In the biblical days, the people had all different types of gods. They even made a god out of gold.

Exodus 32:31- Then Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Oh, these people have committed a great sin, and have made for themselves a god of gold!

A “god” is anything that you put before the true Living God. In our society there are many gods. The two that have really captured the hearts of people are social media and cell phones. Please don’t get me wrong, social media and cell phones are not bad. However, when a person is obsessed with posting things or texting people and has no more time for God in their lives, that’s when we have a problem.

Our main priority as Christians is to always put God first. We should not be going after the gods of this world.

Deuteronomy 6:14- You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are all around you.

2. Follow God’s Word. Deuteronomy 28:14- So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Follow (be obedient) God’s Word so that you will not chase after other gods. Once you apply these principles to your life, that’s when you will be faithful to God.
