Psalm 84:11, "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless."
Blameless doesn't mean without sin. In the Book of Job 1:1, "In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil."
Job was a man who loved God and his character was of the highest quality.
Psalm 84:11 does not mean that our God is going to give us everything we think is good for us. But it does say that the Lord will not hold back, will not withhold what is good for us in His will.
As we follow after Jesus and are all in for Him, Jesus will open doors for us that we could not even think is possible. The key though is to be walking in His paths, trying to do His will in our lives.
As children of the Lord we need to obey Jesus in all things. We don't just obey when we think that things are good for us - it means to obey even when we do not fully understand where God is leading us.
God doesn't want our sacrifices first - He wants our obedience always.
1st Samuel 15:22, "Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams."
The Bible is complete with Scriptures about obeying the Lord. The prophet was not saying that sacrifice was not important, but more importantly, to obey the voice of the Lord is of greater value for our Spiritual life.
We serve a Great and Awesome God who will not withhold His many Blessings when we obey what He wants from us. The key is to obey, then rely upon Jesus to perform what He said He would do in our lives.
What God said He would do, He will do it when we believe in Jesus in faith and stand upon His Word.
Jesus loves us and wants to give each one of us only what is best for us. He will do it, in His time and in His way, when we obey Him. Amen.
