Into the Fiery Furnace
Isaiah 43:2; "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."
We all know the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These three young men were forced to go to Babylon. They really did go into the fire, BUT survived by the Grace of God.
These young men would not bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar's gold statue or any other idol. They were men who loved God and would not back down from the Lord's commands.
As the story goes, because they would not bow down, the king had them tied up and thrown into the fiery furnace. When the king looked into the fire, he not only saw the three men but one that looked like the Son of God. They came out of the fire and not only were they not burned, but they didn't even smell of smoke. If you guys have ever been around an open pit fire, you know that you will smell of smoke.
They believed God would rescue them from the flames. But even more important was the fact that they were determined, even if God did not rescue them, not to bow down to any idol.
We need to have that kind of faith. And that faith is available for us today. God doesn't change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Reach out and cry out to Him and watch as He will deliver you.
For you and me today, maybe we are not facing a burning furnace, but we will probably go through some kind of testing of our faith. Let your faith in Christ continue to grow. Look to Him and not the circumstances you face.
Remember God is the God of all circumstances and by His Grace we will be victorious. When you do, stand still and you might witness the impossible. Amen.
