The Mountains Before Us

April 18, 2018

Zechariah 4: 6-7  "Then He answered and said to me, this is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.  What are you, O great mountain?  Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of Grace, grace to it."

Zechariah was a Prophet and he ministered to the remnant of Jews who had returned to Judah to rebuild the temple.  He encouraged the people to continue the work which had been interrupted for some years.

There isn't a person, Christian or not, who has not faced mountains, disappointments or difficulties in their lives. But as believers in Jesus Christ, what do we do when a mountain is in front of us?  Do we run to the world for help or to our friends or do we seek God in prayer.

We seek God in prayer - we pray for His wisdom and direction.  There is nothing wrong with getting good advice from mature Christians, but first seek Jesus.

When we read the story about the Jewish captives in Babylon who returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple and their nation, we will see how the opposition comes against them. It seemed like huge mountains were in front of them.  Have you ever been there, have you faced such mountains?

In the natural, it was impossible for these Jewish remnants to accomplish rebuilding the wall, BUT God.  God turns the impossible to the possible!

Through the prophet Zechariah, they finished the wall.  They had the Lord of hosts on their side.

We serve the same God today, Hebrews 13:8  "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever."

Are you facing a mountain in your life today?  Fear not our Lord He will provide us with all we need to move that mountain, or He will give us the strength to go over it.

Seek the Lord first always.  Amen.
