Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might."
As the New Year 2019 is upon us, let us remind ourselves where our strength comes from. Every year, in fact every day, brings its own set of things that we have to go through.
I'm sure that many folks have made their list of resolutions for what they want to do this New Year. The list might go like this: “I am going to finish my education, lose weight and get in shape, or I am going to make more money so my family can be taken care of,” and the lists go on. All of those things are good, but if God is not in them, meaning if we do not draw our strength from the Lord, all things are in vain.
But the Bible gives us God's wisdom and the Word of God tells us that the strength that Jesus provides is more than enough for you and me.
The Apostle Paul lived under Roman oppression and he saw evil all around him, but Paul found that the strength he needed for all of life's circumstances was only in Jesus Christ.
Paul learned how to live in abundance and in little. He knew that with the strength that Jesus provides, it carried him to be content in all and every situation he faced.
Dear Brothers and Sisters, we also can relate and rely upon Jesus, just as all of the saints of the past did.
The Apostle Paul's words are true today as when he penned them to the Philippians, 4:12-13: "I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
In 2019, let us be reminded of who we are and who we belong to - Be strong in Jesus. Amen
