The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous. Proverbs 15:29
In October of 2018, a tragic event happened in Barron, Wisconsin. A man named Jake Patterson invaded a home. He killed the parents of 13-year old Jayme Closs and then kidnapped her. While she was missing, her church family constantly prayed for her safe return. Their prayers were just recently answered. God gave Jayme the courage to escape Jake’s house and was able to find a woman on the street who helped her to safety. The police arrested Jake and he is now sentenced to life in prison.
The members of Jayme’s church have been celebrating the teen’s return and their prayers being answered. Joann Trowbridge is one of the members at Jayme’s church and she said, “Our prayers have been answered and God is good.” Despite the horrific murders of this girl’s parents, God was able to turnaround a terrible situation for His glory. The Lord’s eyes were on His children and He heard their prayers.
1 Peter 3:12- For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
Another church in Barron, Wisconsin also celebrated Jayme’s return. Pastor Richard Robinson from the First Baptist Church said, “I believe it’s a message to us here in Barron and people all over; you can’t overestimate the power of prayer.” There’s a lot of truth in the words of Pastor Robinson. When the righteous pray there is power behind it.
James 5:16- Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
I understand that God might not answer your prayer immediately, but never stop praying.
1 Thessalonians 5:17- Pray without ceasing.
Let it be known that when we (the righteous, believers, Christians) pray, that’s when God will hear our prayers and deliver us from our troubles.
Psalm 34:17- The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.
God will always answer the prayers of the righteous.
