Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Have you ever been stressed out? How do you deal with stress? There are many times that stress can come from worry or fear. These negative emotions are always rooted in anxiety. If we want to get rid of stress, worry and fear, then we must cut out anxiety all together. How do we overcome anxiety? The answer is found below.

Philippians 4:6-7- Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Let’s break this Scripture down and get a deeper look into how we can overcome anxiety.

Be anxious for nothing- The Apostle Paul tells us not to have anxiety at all. This seems like a very difficult task. How can we never have anxiety? Well, he gives us three biblical principles to accomplish this goal.

  1. Prayer- Tell God the reason or reasons for your anxiety. Put your trust in Him and know that He will intervene in your life and deliver you from anxiety.

  2. What does the word “supplication” mean? The definition is: “An intensive extended earnest prayer.” All this means is instead of a quick prayer, you’re always seeking God and praying.

  3. Thanksgiving- After prayer and supplication, this is when you give God thanks. What are we thanking God for? We’re thanking God for what He is about to do in our lives. Why should we do this? The reason we do this is because it activates our faith. Even though we haven’t seen our prayers answered in the physical realm, we know by faith that God has already answered it in the spiritual realm. Now as believers we wait in faith, believing that what we asked God for will manifest itself in the physical realm.

Anxiety is something that many people deal with on a regular basis. However, when we apply these three biblical principles in our lives that’s when God’s peace will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, so that you can overcome anxiety.
