"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:13
This Scripture is applicable for celebrating Memorial Day 2019. Memorial Day is the day that we set aside to honor the men and women who have died while defending our country. Those in the military who have given their lives and have laid down their lives for us who are American citizens have fulfilled this Scripture verse.
This Memorial Day, let us give thanks and honor to those who serve in the military, both present and past, and for those who have given their lives for us. We appreciate you and the protection you give to us.
While it is true that our Veterans were not personal friends to many, they still fought for the freedom and the rights that we have in America. So, therefore, they have sacrificed their lives for their American friends, known and unknown.
The Memorial Day weekend is a time for travel and for BBQ's with our friends and family. But let us never forget what Memorial Day is all about.
I pray, Lord, that you continue to bless our troops who give of themselves each day as they stand a post abroad and here at home to keep us safe. Jesus, bless their families who do the day to day living, taking care of their homes and families as they wait for their loved ones to return back to them.
Jesus, put your hedge of protection around each man and woman who is presently serving and those who have served.
Church, let us never forget those men and women who have died while serving us. They are true heroes.
Each day we enjoy the multitude of blessings and freedoms we have as Americans living in this wonderful country. These blessings came to us at a high cost. So before you enjoy the food with friends this Memorial Day, stop and spend some quiet time remembering and praying for our military who protect and serve our country.
We thank all our Veterans and we honor you this day and every day. Amen.
