Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3
I have suffered many things in my life. However, God has always comforted me. In the moments when I was lonely or depressed, the Lord would pour out His love over me. The times when I would feel discouraged, that’s when He would encourage me through His Word. Even when I didn’t have the strength to go on anymore, He was there to strengthen me through the power of the Holy Spirit.
There may be things that you’re struggling with today, but the good news is that God is able to comfort you. How do we receive God’s comfort? The answer is through the Scriptures.
Romans 15:4- For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
The Scriptures give us comfort so that we may have hope during difficult times. When nothing is going right, we can hold on to God’s promises which are found in the Scriptures. How does this work? Well, let’s say you’re feeling lonely. During your loneliness, that’s when you would take a Scripture that will comfort you. What would that Scripture be?
Isaiah 43:2- When you pass through the waters, I will be with you and through the rivers they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned nor shall the flame scorch you.
God is with you in every circumstance. You are never alone. Hold on to God’s promise and find comfort in this Scripture. If you’re a person that is struggling with fear, then the Scripture that you want to hold on to is Isaiah 41:10.
Isaiah 41:10- Fear not for I am with you. Be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
God promises to be with you. He will strengthen, help and uphold you with His righteous right hand. If He is going to do that for you, then there is nothing to fear. Hold on to His promise and find comfort in this Scripture. Always remember that we serve the God of all comfort.
